Meet Miss Mayer

Hi! I am Miss Mayer and welcome to the SFA 6th Grade classroom. I feel absolutely blessed with my position at St. Francis of Assisi. Teaching students how to think for themselves and igniting a passion for lifelong learning means I have a hand in inspiring future world changers! I strive to create a classroom where mistakes are encouraged, kindness is key, and respectful and collaborative problem-solving is practiced daily.

I graduated from Fontbonne University in 2002 with a BA in Elementary Education and a BA in English. I received an MS in Elementary Education and a Certificate in Special Reading in 2008. I have been teaching for 20 years, with experience in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade, 6th grade, and as a K-5 reading specialist. I use my experience to make sure I meet each student where he or she is and help push them to the next level, not only in academics but also in their confidence, faith, and leadership skills.

I grew up in Imperial, MO, and attended Holy Child Grade School and Notre Dame High School. After college, I bought a house in St. Louis Hills, where I live with my dog, Flo. We love walking to Francis Park to chase squirrels, read, and visit with neighbors.

I love teaching at St. Francis of Assisi. Getting to know the students' families and watching them grow up is a great perk of my job! The families at SFA are second to none. They are always willing to support the teachers and engage in their child's learning, and that partnership is a powerful facet of any successful school!
