Meet Mrs. Smith

Hello, my name is Cate Smith. Welcome to the Saint Francis of Assisi P.E. classroom. I aim to engage students at all fitness levels in activities that inspire them to live fit, healthy lifestyles.

After graduating from Fontbonne University, I began my teaching career at Saint Bernadette Elementary School. I spent four years teaching at Saint Martin of Tours Elementary School before staying home to raise my four children. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and 16 years of teaching experience. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade and spent two years as a Junior High Science teacher. This year will be my 6th year as a P.E. teacher and my third year at SFA.   I have participated in athletics through college, and fitness is a part of my daily life.

I have been married for 19 years and have four children. My oldest son, John, is a freshman in college. My daughter Katie is a Junior in high school. My son Cooper is a sophomore in high school. My youngest child, Riley, will be in 8th grade at SFA this year.   I love to hike, play sports, watch my kids play sports, and spend time with my family doing anything.

SFA is a special place because it is genuinely a faith-filled community. The students are energetic, and the Catholic faith is truly at the center of the curriculum.
