For students going into 8th Grade, SFA is hosting its first Essay Boot Camp. This boot camp is to help prepare for upcoming essays and enhance writing skills! Five upcoming 8th graders are participating this year.
This was the idea of Mrs. Schmitz and Ms. Mayer who teach all grade levels of Middle School ELA. They are hosting this because they saw an opportunity for students to practice and refine their writing skills over the summer by working on their essays for high school applications and scholarships. Mrs. Schmitz and Ms. Mayer worked closely with the students from brainstorming to editing to composing a final draft. Students collaborated to decide on relevant topics and elaborated using their own experiences and writing styles.
